Mossberg`s Model 183 series bolt-action . 410 shotguns saw nearly 40 years of manufacture. Utilitarian and reliable, they are bargains on the used gun market today.
Join me now as we journey to the 1930s – the time of the Great Depression, Dust Bowl farmers, and celebrated engineer and firearms manufacturer Oscar Mossberg. In 1933, Mossberg designed, invented, and subsequently released the first prototype bolt action shotgun.
Bolt-action shotguns are not all that common, but they work just like bolt-action rifles. The bolt is a rod attached to a spring, and there`s a handle sticking out of it. To load a bolt-action, the shooter twists the bolt handle up and then pulls it back. This both exposes the chamber and cocks the firing mechanism.
We put industry-leading innovation, reliability, and quality into every firearm that bears our name. Our legendary line of shotguns offers three different action types, and hundreds of possibilities.
This 20-gauge is 2 ¾ and 3-inch capable with 6-round total capacity and features a 14-inch, heavy-walled barrel with bead sight and matte blue finish.
Mossberg offers bolt-action, lever-action, and auto-loading rifles, as well as pump-action, auto-loading, and over/under shotguns. Manufacturing is done both in Turkey and in the US from parts made in both America and Mexico.
Bolt actions can work with a wide range of ammunition from slow and heavy to fast and light. They can also fire custom brass ammo. Along with greater ammo and caliber flexibility, bolt actions also offer better scope variety.
8 Kel-Tec KSG (John Wick)

John uses this weapon in the first film after he takes one from an enemy during a battle outside the church. The Kel-Tec KSG is a modernized pump-action shotgun designed for maximum stopping power, with more refined stability and less chaotic recoil.

Bolt-action shotguns are considered a rarity among modern firearms but were formerly a commonly used action for . 410 entry-level shotguns, as well as for low-cost 12-gauge shotguns.
Bolt action refers to a gun mechanism activated by manual operation of the breech block that resembles a common door bolt.
The Mossberg 500 is an American-made shotgun that is designed for hunting, home defense, and sporting use. It features a 12-gauge caliber, a synthetic stock, and a 6-round capacity. The Mossberg 500 is priced at just $289, making it a versatile and affordable option for gun enthusiasts.
Marlin firearms are made in the USA. Marlin is owned by Ruger, which is also a USA company. Owned by Blaser. Most Mossberg firearms are made in the USA, except for its over-under shotguns and rimfire guns which are made in Turkey.
Of all the shotguns in the United States, 12 gauge guns are by far the most popular. The 20 gauge comes in second, followed by the 28 gauge and the . 410 bore. The 10 gauge and 16 gauge are much less common than the rest, but are by no means rare.
It`s always been overshadowed by the more popular and more powerful 12 gauge, but there`s nothing wrong with relying on a 20 gauge shotgun to defend your home. At close range, 20 gauge buckshot is typically just as effective as 12 gauge, but it can have a lot less recoil.
The Mossberg 590A1 is the standard-issue pump shotgun of most of the United States Military. There is also the M1014, the Remington 870 MCS, and the M26. Even with all the competition, the Mossberg 500 series of shotguns is the most common. There are three current Mossberg 500 series shotguns in use by the military.
Mossberg firmly remains a family-owned and operated company. The CEO is A. Iver Mossberg, great grandson of Oscar Frederick.
Bolt-action is one of the strongest kinds of action available, able to contain much more pressure. You can make a bolt gun that shoots a bigger bullet faster than you could ever dream of putting in a semi-automatic. To a large degree, it`s all about game mechanics.
The 18, 15, 11, 6, 3, and 2-gauge shells are the rarest of all; owners of these types of rare shotguns will usually have their ammunition custom loaded by a specialist in rare and custom bores.
The bolt-action is still common today among sniper rifles, as the design has the potential for superior accuracy, reliability, lesser weight, and the ability to control loading over the faster rate of fire that alternatives allow.
Any bolt-action rifle chambered in . 223 Remington or greater will have ample power for home defense. This power through transforms from ample to excessive in most long-action cartridges like the . 270 Winchester or 30-06.
HK P30L. In the inaugural John Wick film, we see our titular character dig up his old gear and guns. From an OTF knife to the various handguns for his return to work. His main handgun being the Heckler and Koch P30L.
If you`re wondering what the original John Wick`s weapon of choice is, this is it – the HK P30L hammer-fired DA/SA 9mm pistol developed by the German gun manufacturing company.
Sniper rifles are generally bolt-action rifles. That means the sniper must load and chamber each round he fires. Once he has fired, he has to clear the shell casing and load another round.

I just bought a Remington Model 742 Woodsmaster 30-06 at a large gunshow and noticed later that the bolt handle is only about 1/4 of an inch long, so it must have broken off at one point. Surely it was longer than that when new? How can I get a new one, and I need the manual and diagrams to take the rifle apart to fix that. Also there’s a plastic piece on the outside of the bolt, but just inside the gun. It slides with the bolt. Is this normal? The guys I bought it from said they took it deer hunting and that it shoots fine.
ANSWER : To remove the bolt, look at where the trigger enters the stock. There should be a little square/rectangle button right in front of it (inside the trigger guard, right in front of the trigger). Push that in and while holding it in, pull the bolt backwards (out). The bolt should come out pretty easy if you’re holding the button in. Most gun shops can order a new bolt. Likewise, many of them carry diagrams/manuals or can get them for you. You may also find one online for free if you hunt/peck enough. I’m not sure about the plastic piece you are referring to. My Remington is steel all the way. No plastic on the bolt anywhere. The other option is to take the bolt to Cabela’s or another gunsmith. Most of them (if they are competent) can repair the broken piece cheaper than buying a new bolt. They can also tell you if the plastic is normal. Just drop by with it and have them take a peek. estimates (and telling you if the plastic is normal) are usually free.
