I have a 1987 mercury 9.9 outboard on a 12′ boat. As I was towing my not-so-good sailor/daughter’s sailboat to shore with it, I increased throttle speed a bit and the engine revved high with no power to the propeller. Got it to shore OK after that at lower speed. Next time I used it the engine started & ran fine, reverse worked fine but at above 1/3 throttle I get high revs but no power to the prop again. Below one third throttle the prop can push the boat. The lower housing grease seems fine (except for some red spots in it and the prop did not seem loose when I pulled on it by hand.Have not

The inside of the prop has a rubber between the prop itself and the inside splines to act as a shock absorber,say if you were to hit a rock. that rubber had spun out and the splines are turning inside the prop. the prop is screwed. seen it 100 times before.

Spun Prop A spun prop is one of the most common reasons your powerboat may struggle to achieve appropriate speed at full throttle. This happens when the bond between your boat propeller and the prop shaft is damaged. As a result of this damage, the rubber inserts start spinning independently.
If your outboard motor will not throttle up, the issue may be as simple as a tangle. Debris such as fishing line, excessive seaweed, beer can rings, or nearly any other material can wrap around the propeller and its spindle.

When a cars rpm goes up and the car is not picking up speed, this usually means that there is a problem inside the transmission. The valve body, shift solenoids, and or clutches of the transmission probably had gone bad or are worn out to the point they are causing a transmission shifting issue.
Common causes of why a car feels sluggish when accelerating include dirty mass air flow sensor (MAF), faulty spark plugs, defective throttle position sensor, clogged catalytic converter, faulty oxygen sensor, clogged air filter, and fuel system malfunctioning.
Stalling problems can be traced to: A spark plug fouled by fuel, carbon, dirt or oil on the electrodes may not produce a spark strong enough to ignite the air/fuel mixture and start your engine. A dirty flame arrestor/air box can cause your boat engine to stall. Remove the debris using carb cleaner and a wire brush.
A poorly mounted outboard is a common cause of engine vibrations. You`ll notice there`s a problem with the engine mount when the vibration worsens as the boat accelerates. Check your outboard`s engine mounts and the hull itself for signs of wear or damage that could be causing the problem.
Every boat owner is different and how far you decide to push your marine engine is in your hands. However, running your boat at Wide-Open Throttle is not bad for your engine and can even help clear out carbon build up.
Now regardless of whether it`s on a garden strimmer, lawnmower or chainsaw, whenever we pull the throttle on a 2 stroke engine and get a bogged down sound it`s almost always caused by an insufficient amount of fuel reaching the engine.
Pumping efficiency limits the RPMs that a Two-Stroke engine can turn.
If your WOT RPM is too high or too low, you`ll want to try a prop with more or less pitch. Adding propeller pitch will decrease wide-open throttle (WOT) engine speed, while subtracting pitch will increase WOT RPM.

Mercury 4 hp outboard engine wont go into gear
ANSWER : The lower gears arent hard to change, if your in there might as well get all of them there are only a few. the lshift lever does nothing but move the gears forward and back to engage forward and reverse, just pay extra attention to keep it water tight when done. A dealer should have the assembly chart for easy fix

ANSWER : Check where the speedo drive goes into the gearbox it could be the filler hole.
We have a 1967 2 strok mercury 65 outboard motor. wont start cold
ANSWER : Wow.It sounds like some people I know.Late starters.Don,t get out of bed ’till 10 am.With all you have written, a check on the operation of the choke (cold start) would be worth looking at.As you crank the motor,squeeze the fuel bulb at the same time and see if that also may help.Hope this helps
I bought a new mossberg 590 a1 shot gun a month ago, I love the gun but its having a couple of problems, the first problem is that when shooting every once in a while i get sprayed in the face with exuast from shooting through the safety very scary! any ideas whats causing this? how to fix it? second is that some times the fireing pin sticks and the gun will not discharge a round? the third problem is that i have had feeding issues with gun where it will not realice a gound from the tube, ive taken a tip of a knife to the stuck round in the tube and it prys out with little effort, these problems dont happen every time i go shooting, just every once in a while, but they a happening more and more, im conserned cause the gun is brand new, and i wanna be safe while shooting, can you guys help me? any ideas/solutions? please help!!!!!!!
ANSWER : Personally, with that many problems, I’d call Mossberg and get a return authorization. None of these things should be happening, especially with a new gun.
I have a Scuba Pro X650a regulator. After having the unit serviced this winter I used it last month for the first time in St. Croix.
The first day of diving went fine. However, as the week progressed I noticed that when taking in a breath the regulator continued to trickle air at a very small rate. While not enough to be concerned about safety at this point it has become an annoyance both from the fact that bubbles continue to trickle past my ears and air usage has increased. This is an intermittent problem.
I had it looked at by 2 certified Scuba Pro Dive shops and they could not find anything wrong with it though one did lower the first stage pressure just to a bit to see if that would work. I also cycled the control lever position for “dive” and “surface” intervals to ensure that there were no sticking problems.
It does appear that the problem is intermittent and that it only occurs when the regulator is under water.
In addition is there a diagram in which I can use to troubleshoot this problem?
NOTE: this version of the X650 was not on the recall list of Scuba Pro.
Any help would be appreciated.

ANSWER : Strangely enough I had the exact same problem with mine.. I’m in the caribbean I love diving and spear gun fishing.. I had one of these a year ago with the same issue I actually wound up increasing the pressure to get it to work.. It wasnt muc use cause my air ran out at a faster rate. Was never able to fix ,, A buddy of mine had the same issue ,, wound up replacing the swivle vale and this helped for a week and then back to the same old .. I then changed to the Aqualung Mikron Regulator had no issues and it works great .. Quite frankly I think we had bad ones here but I’m not sure where you got yours. If you wish you can replace the swivle valve (most likely cause) but I’ll just change the unit and get another..
TC5000 and after extended use I smell burning and upon removing the belt cover and drive belt I felt of the motor on the motor side of the drive pulley and it was ”red-hot”, obviously the source of the smell of the burning. The motor spins freely without any rubbing noise. The drive pulley (motor side) and the tread pulley appear to be alligned. One curious thing is that the threaded motor output shaft is recessed about 3/8” from the outside edge of the pulley. Could it be the bearing on the pulley side of the motor? I am dumbfounded as to what the solution might be. Note that I could not enter the exact product as my model seemed to be invalid. My model is the TC5000. Thanks
[email protected]ANSWER : Just because it spins freely doesnt mean it cant have a shorted winding. Id send it back where it came from or at least replace the motor.

forget to insert the pendrive in usb after that when the dialogue comes
