Almost all disposable oil filters will get clogged before they make it to the second change. They`re meant to be used only once. Reusing a disposable oil filter from the previous oil change may cause a lot of damage.
But if the oil filter gets clogged, it may restrict the flow of the already low engine oil. This severe cutback in the cooling agent is what leads to engine overheating.
If the engine is cold, start it and let it run for five minutes to warm the oil. If it`s hot, wait at least 30 minutes to avoid getting burned. Never use an adjustable wrench or socket on the drain plug.
However, it`s important to note that when changing the engine oil, both the oil filter and engine oil must be replaced together. While you can top off your engine oil if the existing filter is still good, it`s not recommended to ignore an old filter and simply replace only the engine oil.
Every reputable oil filter is designed to seal for tens of thousands of miles with no more than a good hand-tightening. You don`t need a wrench unless you have one of those deeply recessed filters with no space around it for your hands. (If that`s the case, the only choice is a cap wrench.)

Most oil experts say it`s better to drain the oil when it`s hot instead of when it`s cold, for several reasons: Oil viscosity is thinner when it`s hot, so it drains more quickly and completely out of the engine than when it`s cold.
Figuring out what type of oil filter you need isn`t nearly as complicated as figuring out what type of oil you need. There are hundreds of different filters, but only one type your car will need. The manufacturer will tell you in your owner`s manual what type of filter you need, so all you need to do is match it up.
Over- or Under-tightening

Besides making it difficult to remove when replacing the oil filter, over-tightening can crush the filter gasket, causing it to leak. When not properly tightened, any vehicle part designed to seal against a leak will loosen from normal engine or driving vibrations and cause leaks.

You can always add more oil to it later. The oil wicks through the filter very well, and we`ve been prone to sometimes over-oil our filters in haste. This can lead to oil leaking off the air filter and into the air intake tube.
The engine`s oil pump moves the oil directly to the filter, where it enters from the holes in the perimeter of the base plate. The dirty oil is passed (pushed under pressure) through the filter media and back through the central hole, where it re-enters the engine.

My pool filtering system has been installed for 5 years and has worked well. It has a Jacuzzi 1.5hp pump and a Hayward s244t filter with heater and a salt generator. I have never replaced the sand. It has had a problem 2 times in the past week at startup in the morning. It appears there is blockage in the filter preventing flow through it because when I open the pump backet, it is pressurized. If I then backflush or rinse the filter, everything appears to work fine. Then I switch it back to normal filter operation and it works ok. I have a timer on the filter and the problem only occurs first in the morning when the timer starts it. Any ideas?

ANSWER : Not a pro with rhinos but sounds like you got oil from crank case. like if you have a seal broken, hope not but my car had same problem and I had a cracked gasket. good luck. you can check the oil to see if it looks milky

2005 4 stroke yamaha 150 550hrs. normally use every week but due to surgery not used for 10weeks. Just before I went down I changed internal fuel filter, and zincs in motor. finally put in sunday. motor started fine left dock hit the power and started to come up on plane then stuttered and died. changed the external fuel/water seperator pump up the primer and started up again. with in a minute died down again. limped back to dock checked fuel filter and plug wire connections. pumped up primer and left dock went right onto plane for maybe 150yds then coughed and died. I could pump up primer and it would run but then die out. the fuel filter at the front of the engine would run dry until I pumped it up again. If it were a car I would suspect a leak in a fuel line but I can’t find any sign of one.
before we launched I put 10 gallons of fresh fuel in and added another bottle of ethanol stabilizer (CRC brand)
what proceedure should I follow to isolate the problem? I am a fairly competent mechanic as far as cars and trucks go. I don’t really want to have to take it to a marine mechanic.
ANSWER : This is going to be the fuel pump is not pumping any fuel. The primer is acting as a fuel pump. When you prime it, it gives the engine enough fuel to run for a little bit. But as soon as the fuel runs out, the engine is dying. So this is going to be a bad fuel pump.

I want to change the oil in my yamaha big bear atv, early 90s. what type of oil do I need to use and is there anything else that goes along with the oil change-?filter
ANSWER : HELLO; Yes you will need a filter located lower left side behind the peg ,you’ll see a cover thats about an inch and a half wide with three allen head bolts, pull out the filter and when you replace it make sure the hole is towards the engine. Now about oil there are several ideas on this so heres my ( 2 cents ) I repair quads and have for several years,you have a quad that has a wet clutch if it is an older one and semi automatic so you don’t want to use syn. oil as this will wear out your clutch sooner, I would recomend, yamalube,it will cost up to $5.00 a qt. but you only need two and a quarter qts. to fill your quad. GOOD LUCK, and remember you must be fast, because I was haulin *** when I passed you!
