Racquetball is almost 70 years old and is one of the most fun, competitive and challenging sports in the world. It`s a two-player game played with a racquet and hollow rubber ball on either an outdoor or indoor court.
Outdoor racquetball is played using the same floor dimensions as an indoor court. However, there is no ceiling or backwall and the court may or may not include sidewalls. The sidewalls can also vary in length. Most outdoor play is referred to as “One Wall” or “3 Wall” Racquetball.
Racquetball is a racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court.
Racquetball can be played alone, against one opponent as a singles game, or with four players as a doubles game.
The Decline

By the 90s, the initial excitement had worn off and racquetball saw a decline. This fall is due to multiple factors—the advances in racquets and balls made it harder for the average viewer to follow the ball, so televised matches were unusual.

TYPES OF GAMES Racquetball is played by two or four players. When played by two, it is called singles and when played by four, doubles.
sport. racquetball, game similar to handball but played with rackets. The game is played on a four-walled court with a short-handled racket and a ball larger than that used in handball. It was invented in 1950 by Joseph G. Sobek, who was unhappy with the indoor racket sports then available.
Alternate Names

This sport is sometimes called paddleball, as racquetball grew out of four wall paddleball and was originally called “paddle rackets“.

Goggles and glasses are one of the important pieces of Racquetball equipment to see the ball better and protect your eyes. They enhance visual clarity to help you see better with right lens coating and colors, so that you can catch the ball quickly.
The sport is relatively simple to learn and can be played with minimal equipment. If you learn the basic rules of the game, start implementing techniques and strategies, and get the necessary equipment, you`ll be a solid racquetball player in no time.
Although less common than eye and ankle injuries, elbow injuries such as bursitis, sprains, and tendonitis can occur from playing racquetball. Foot or toe sprains and fractures are other injuries that can be sustained in racquetball.
Lower back injuries – The quick twisting required in racquet ball sports can wreak havoc on the lower back. Straining the back muscles is a real risk. Recovery from this can take a long time, so it`s better to avoid causing it in the first instance.
The ball may be into any wall and/or the ceiling, as long as the ball reaches the front wall before hitting the ground. If a player hits the other player with the ball, the rally is replayed. If a player touches the ball while it is the other player`s turn to hit, the first player loses the rally. 5.
Racquetball may be played by two or four players. When played by two it is called singles and when played by four, doubles. A non-tournament variation of the game that is played by three players is called cutthroat. Racquetball is a competitive game in which a strung racquet is used to serve and return the ball.
Squash is also considered more difficult skill-wise. It has a smaller ball, smaller racket and requires more skill to hit. Racquetball makes up for this though by being easier to get started playing.
A returned ball may not touch the floor before touching the front wall first, then hitting the front wall on the fly, or after hitting the side wall or ceiling.
Racquetball is a relatively young sport — it officially debuted in 1969 and grew rapidly in popularity. Today, players around the world enjoy playing racquetball in fully enclosed courts, which allows play all year, even during the hot summer or cold winter months. The racquetball game is intense and fast paced.
Racquet sports require a myriad of skills, including power, precision, technique, timing, and perhaps, most importantly of all, agile footwork and mental focus.
Competitive tennis, singles tennis and racket ball are all especially hard on the knees. The short runs and quick pivots required to play racket sports can lead to serious injury if done for prolonged periods of time.

In one hour of play, the player runs more than two miles and burns between 600 to 800 calories. Playing racquetball regularly will decrease body fat levels and maintain healthy weight.

A true handball is referred to as an “ace ball” or, in earlier days, “blackball”. A racquetball used to play handball is called a “big ball” or “big blue”. A small ball is hard, bounces higher and moves faster. Types of small balls include the Red Ace (for men) and the White Ace (for women).

ANSWER : For your own safety, keep your not playing hand off the table away
from the edge of the table. I have seen lots of beginners place their fingers
over the edge of the table only to have a puck come smash into their fingers at
25 MPH and cause unpleasant injuries damage, so be careful with that but in
general Air Hockey is considered to be a safe sport.
