Tent poles build the framework of a tent. There might be some exceptions, but most tents require poles, and pegs, to support the tent.
pitch a tent – Wiktionary.
One person can easily put up an instant tent depending on its size and design. If the tent is a 6- to 10-person tent, it can be harder to set up and install the rainfly. However, if the design of the tent is simple enough, one person can probably still manage it.
There are very easy Pop Up and small tents and there are some difficult larger tents which usually takes two people to put up. One can do it, but if there`s any wind, rain it can be a task. So the first time is in your back yard or parking area. Read any instructions first and then put it up it at home.
The skeleton of the tent – the poles or air tubes. Basically, there are two main types of tent pole: Bendy ones and rigid ones. Bendy ones are more flexible and usually lighter, rigid ones are generally more robust and heavy-duty.
A double-wall tent is constructed of two walls—typically the tent body and a rainfly. As tents evolved from cotton to nylon ripstop fabrics, their designs began to incorporate two layers of fabric to achieve waterproofness and breathability.
Keep away from setting up where there is washout (leaves and the dirt pattern is a good solid indicator). The tent should be placed in a position that allows water to drain away from the tent, so that you don`t have a river running through it. Set up your tent away from where you are going to be eating.
It will be a difficult experience, especially if you`re used to having a bed, temperature regulation, and convenient access to food, water, and other necessities. However, when done properly, it can be an extremely rewarding experience that will change your outlook on life.
Generally speaking, 20` wide tents are ideal for backyard gatherings. Up to 100 people can be seated under 20` wide tents using banquet tables. 30` wide tents are used to seat up to 200 people. 40` wide, 60` wide and 80` wide tents are typically used to seat over 200 people.
The most important thing to keep your tent dry in the rain is waterproofing it. While most tents are water-resistant, they probably aren`t waterproof. So, you should prepare for heavy downpours by preparing your tent with a waterproof spray like Nikwax`s Tent & Gear spray.
The good news is that when you put it all together just right, sleeping in a tent can be every bit as restful as home — sometimes even more so in the great outdoors, where fresh air provides many benefits for sleep.
The parts of a tent include the tent body, vents, tent poles, a rainfly, vestibules, bug netting/mesh, groundsheets, tent pegs (stakes), guy lines, tie out points, storage pockets (gear lofts), tent footprints, etc. Each part plays an equally important part in the construction of your tent.
The poles are typically the heaviest part of the tent. This is generally true no matter the type of tent because the heavier the fabric, the stronger, thus heavier the poles need to be to provide support.
Cold and oxygen-rich air is drawn in at the ground under the outer tent and through separate circulation valves located low down and ensures circulation and replacement of moist air both in the inner tent and in the layer between the inner and outer tent.
The main problems with sleeping outside without a tent are: It is harder to stay warm due to being in the elements more than if you were in a tent. Harder to stay dry as you are not completely covered. Risk of animals joining you in the middle of the night or insects landing on you.
The word “tent” comes from the Latin word tendere meaning “to stretch” – as in a piece of material stretched tautly across a frame. Tents are typically, but not always, thought of as portable shelters and it has been that way for a long time.
While just about all tents on the market provide flooring that is designed to keep moisture out, most also require a ground cloth or foot print to provide adequate protection from water.
Tents are used for a wide variety of purposes, including recreation, exploration, military encampment, and public gatherings such as circuses, religious services, theatrical performances, and exhibitions of plants or livestock.
A Basic Camping Area is an open field area without defined campsites. Amenities might include a vault toilet, trash removal, mowed areas, and a boat ramp. However, they may or may not have picnic tables and fire rings and/or grills.
Thoroughly air-dry your tent after trips and cleanings.

There`s no such thing as too much drying time. Set it up indoors or in a shaded outdoor spot. If you don`t have enough space to pitch it, drape it or hang it until dry.

The more volume to a tent, the more dead air space to heat. Whether you`re heating the tent with a heater, or just body-heat, the result is the same. A larger tent is colder, because your body can`t warm the larger enclosed volume as effectively.
One major advantage is how much it costs to live in a tent. It is so much cheaper than living in a house or even in an apartment. There are a lot of supplies you will need to buy but the overall cost is still much lower than paying every month for gas, rent, internet, and electricity.
So, considering that, along with luggage and camping equipment, a 4 person tent for 4 people can get quite cramped. For a group of 4 people, especially if they`re adults, and all the camping gear they`ll likely bring with them, it`s a good idea to consider investing in a 6 person tent instead.

Square tent with 2 types gazebo poles, varenda, 2 side windows
ANSWER : The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. It is less likely to collapse in high winds.
