The Unit Identification Number (UIN) Tag is located below the driver window on the left side of our Class A motor coaches. Your UIN is the 12-digit code (example 782KZ4412345) and could also be listed as an FIN or serial number. Other information found on the UIN tag includes year and month of manufacture.
The easiest way to find the owner`s manual for a specific car is to go to the manufacturer`s website and go to the owner`s section. Most manufacturers now provide free downloads of the owner`s manual for all vehicles the car maker produces.
For towable recreational vehicles, travel trailers and fifth wheels, you will find the VIN number metal plate or on the Federal certification label. The label is typically on the left front corner (lower roadside) of the RV somewhere near the bottom of the sidewall.
The metal plate with the VIN number can be found on the trailer tongue, frame rail leading to the hitch or it could be stamped on some metal part of the frame. VINs were first used in 1954 in the United States.
Most automobile manufacturers provide free electronic versions of the owner`s manual for their cars. In some cases, you`ll need to register with the site in order to access the information. Some automakers also require that you provide a vehicle identification number.
You can find the VIN on the vehicle registration document, an insurance card or on the vehicle itself. Other resources for car owner`s manuals are Web sites such as “Just Give Me the Damn Manual” archive manuals and share them with other owners.

Serial Number or VIN Plate
Serial numbers and VIN plates are metal tags that are typically riveted to mobile homes in places such as the following: On the exterior side of the end-wall opposite the hitch. At the lower right of the main entry just outside the door trim.
The 17 digit VIN number associated with all motor vehicles (and trailers) is designed and mandated by the government to promote industry uniformity.
A serial number (SN) is a number assigned to each individual product in order to distinguish that product from all others. The serial number is sometimes used only for warranty control and sometimes used for both warranty control and for version control.
Inside the Vehicle
In the driver`s side door or door jamb – the VIN is usually printed on a sticker in that location.
Tina, for towable recreational vehicles, 5th wheels and conventional travel trailers, the Federal certification label with the manufacturer`s VIN is typically found on the left, roadside front corner of the coach, near the bottom of the sidewall.
You can get a free VIN check at the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), VehicleHistory.com or iSeeCars.com/VIN. Just pop in your car`s digits and these sites will do the VIN lookup and give you information on the vehicle.
On NHTSA.gov, you can query a particular vehicle`s VIN to identify specific information encoded in the number. NHTSA`s VIN decoder is publicly accessible at: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/.
Every new vehicle includes a manual, but what you get may depend on the automaker. Many premium models include just a short, printed guide, while the full version is in the infotainment system (with an index so you can jump directly to what you need).
Replacements can range from $1,800 to $3,400. Depending on the repair shop and technicians, labor charges can range from $500 to $1,200.
Driving a manual transmission vehicle without using the clutch is tricky to do and can cause damage to your transmission. It should only be used in an emergency and for a brief time.
To start a manual-equipped vehicle, first press both the brake and clutch pedals. In fact, modern cars with a manual transmission will require you to press the clutch to start it.
Then, in 1981, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standardized the format. It required that all on-road vehicles contain a 17-character VIN, which does not include the letters O, I, and Q to avoid confusion with numerals 0, 1, and 9.
The VIN is completely unique to one car and it cannot be changed, making it easier to identify a stolen car. The VIN number is also displayed in your car`s V5C logbook and it must match the VIN stamp on the car.

Most of the time, the easiest place to find instruction manuals is from the manufacturer`s website. Visit their site, go to any “Support” or “Customer Care” sections, and see if there`s an option somewhere for downloading manuals.
