There are a few ways that you can go about fixing a crooked basketball rim. The easiest way is to simply loosen the bolts that hold the rim in place and then adjust it until it is level. If the problem is more severe, you may need to use a come-along or a ratchet strap to pull the rim back into place.
If the basketball rim is slanted, the first thing to do is check the screws that hold the backboard to the pole. The screws may have come loose, causing the backboard to tilt. If the screws are tight, the next step is to check the bolts that attach the rim to the backboard.

If your basketball goal`s rim is crooked, you can fix it by loosening the bolts that hold the rim in place. Once the bolts are loose, you can then adjust the angle of the rim until it is level. Finally, retighten the bolts to secure the rim in place.
Your intended playing surface will play a large role in determining where you install your goal. The surface should be hard, level, and free of bumps, holes, or other tripping hazards. For these reasons (among others), grass as a playing surface should be avoided at all costs.
Ways to secure the basketball goal include: filling the base with water, sand, base gel or using a weighted base anchor system. Adding water to the base is as simple as hooking a hose to the base hole. This is a cheaper and easier option than sand.
It is a raised vertical board with an attached basket consisting of a net suspended from a hoop. It is made of a flat, rigid piece of, often Plexiglas or tempered glass which also has the properties of safety glass when accidentally shattered. It is usually rectangular as used in NBA, NCAA and international basketball.
A driveway for a portable basketball hoop can be level in a matter of minutes by digging a hole about 4 to 5 feet deep, filling it with soil or sand, and measuring the surface level with an inclinometer. If the driveway is sloping, use a tamping tool or lawn roller to straighten the area.

Polycarbonate is the strongest of the materials and is practically shatterproof. Backboards made out of Polycarbonate materials limit how much the ball bounces after missed shots.

Another drawback to sand is that it can be hard to add — especially if wet — and even harder to get out of the base of your hoop.
If you leave your basketball hoop out in the open for the winter, you can cover the hoop and net with a trash bag and secure the bag with duct tape. If you are not going to play on your basketball goal during the winter months, you should remove the basketball net.
The grass absorbs energy so your students will really have to pound the ball in order for it to bounce high enough for effective dribbling. A hard dribble is a good technique to develop, because it`s more difficult for opponents to check. It improves specific strength and endurance in the muscles used for dribbling.
Slapping the backboard is neither basket interference nor goaltending. A technical may be assessed when a player strikes the backboard so forcefully it cannot be ignored, but simply slapping the backboard in an attempt to block a shot is neither a violation nor a technical foul.
Comment: It is legal for a defender in the normal course of trying to block a shot, to contact the backboard with his hand. This is not basket interference. It is a technical foul only if, in your judgment, the contact with the backboard was intentional in nature with no real attempt to block the shot.
NBA goaltending rules prohibit a player from touching “any live ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to touch the basket ring. This is considered to be a `field goal attempt` or trying for a goal.” Just after bouncing, that ball would be headed UP, not down.
To mount a hoop on a wall, the most important thing is to check if the surface is solid. It must be strong enough to handle and withstand physical pressure. Make sure the surface is flat and away from the roof line. A flat surface helps make sure that the backboard is tightly attached to the wall.
Shattering the backboard in a game of basketball is a rare occurrence. It can also be extremely dangerous, sending shards of glass flying over the players and fans. It`s a stunt that has caused games to be cancelled or delayed, serious injuries and expensive clean-up costs to be incurred.

My basketball hoop broke and I have a pole cemented in the ground. Can you buy just the hoop/backboard itself and attach to the pole or do I have to cut the pole and start over?
ANSWER : Sorry I know nothing about basketball but it seems a crying shame to cut down the pole even if you can’t find a replacement hoop and board.

I have a lifetime basketball goal with a broken backboard. My son threw a rock threw it. Can I get a replacement glass? Is it easy to change?
ANSWER : You NEED to get a replacement piece from the manufacturer. You could get a piece of lexon from home depot but it will cost you a bit.
