When pitching traditional tents of old, you`d make a frame out of poles, and over the frame, place a flysheet (this is the outside material of the tent), put a sheet on the ground (the groundsheet), and if you had a `posh` tent, put up another set of sheets inside the tent (the inner tent).
Prioritize setting up your tent first, and in an area that is flat, vegetation-free, shaded and wind-buffered, with good drainage. Make sure there`s a good spot to keep food in an airtight container away from your sleeping area and safe from wildlife.
Basically, you should not pitch a tent under a dead tree or in the middle of an area with fallen trees. Typically, if there is a cluster of fallen trees, it is indicative of soft ground and there is a higher possibility that more branches or trees could come down.
It`s true, sand does make things different. Especially when you`re trying to pitch a tent in the sand. But you have all the tools you need to make it happen: sand. Tents work by pitching stakes into the ground and then tying off the tent to those stakes, in one of a few different ways.
Tents can be installed nearly anywhere including concrete and asphalt. There are two ways to do this. The most popular options is drilling holes into the asphalt and repairing them after the tent is removed. Staking in asphalt is the most economical way to secure a tent.
Attention to the ground

Look for the smoothest place possible. If you need to place the tent in a sloping location, at bedtime always put your head to the top of the ground; this will prevent blood from concentrating in your head at night, which could lead to malaise and headaches.

One person can easily put up an instant tent depending on its size and design. If the tent is a 6- to 10-person tent, it can be harder to set up and install the rainfly. However, if the design of the tent is simple enough, one person can probably still manage it.
Knots can be grouped into a few major categories: loops, hitches, bends, and lashings.
The double figure-eight knot is almost unanimously agreed to be the best knot for climbing. As you load the figure-eight knot, it tightens on itself, and there is no risk of it coming untied — so long as you tie a stopper knot.

Most tents, when not using stakes, are made to withstand winds up to 20 miles per hour. If stakes are used, then this capability increases to 40 miles per hour. The majority of tents manufactured are not meant to withstand wind gusts over 50 miles per hour.
It is best to raise your temperature slightly higher at the flowering stage – between 75°F and 82°F.
How do you dry a tent fast? Tents tend to dry more quickly when pitched. Move your wet tent to an exposed, windy area to air it faster, or set it up in the sun for a brief period of time. Just be aware that the longer you leave it exposed to UV rays, the more they may degrade the tent`s flysheet.
In windy weather pitch your tent facing in the direction that offers most protection and stability – this usually means directing the lowest and narrowest parts towards the wind. Try pitching at an angle to the wind so the force of the gusts is spread more evenly over the tent.

ANSWER : The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. The instructions I got are not exactly for the tent in the bag, so I need to find out the specific instructions for my tent rther than the generic instructions it came with.
ANSWER : Search on the internet for the manufacturer’s name, and the tent model. Most have instruction sheets downloadable from their websites. If that doesn’t work, and they can’t help you by email, then try to find a scout troop or outdoors club in your area, who may be able to help you find instructions or even someone with a similar tent.
