i have to purchase a pricy pool toggle switch?
Sport & Outdoor – Others

Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
You should be able to use just about any toggle switch; however, you need to ensure it is rated for the proper amperage. In other words, if your motor is rated for 10 FLA (Full Load Amps), you are going to want a switch capable of handling at least 15 FLA.

How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :

The pump has a toggle switch that activates the power used by the pump; this switch must be replaced if it becomes defective. You can replace the toggle switch yourself, provided that you shut down the pump and acquire a toggle switch of the same dimensions as the one being replaced.
Hayward Power-Flo LX Above Ground Pool Pumps do not have an on/off switch.
You can replace a toggle switch with a rocker switch but you will need to replace the mounting yoke/faceplate too.
Light switch toggle levers physically make and break electrical connections by moving the contacts back and forth. Over time these moving parts are subject to wear from friction – possibly resulting in electrical arcing. This arcing accelerates the wear, ultimately leading to a complete failure of the unit.
Check all connections, circuit breakers, and fuses. Repair or replace any tripped breakers or blown fuses. Inspect the motor shaft for any obstructions. Remove the pump and basket, then look for and remove any debris in the shaft.
If your light switch has lost its firm snap, it`s time to replace. The loosening of a switch often occurs concurrently with a delay in a light fixture illuminating. Both symptoms are caused by worn out parts in the switch.
Specifications of Toggle Switch

Mechanical life: 40,000 make and break cycles.

The first sign of trouble is when the switch begins to behave in a fashion that is abnormal in any way. For example, if there`s an audible crackle, snap, or popping sound when you flip the lever, then it`s pretty clear that your switch is defective and it`s time to replace it.
Turn the switch lever on and off. The tester should light up when the switch lever is in the on position but should not light up when the switch lever is off. If it doesn`t exhibit this behavior, it indicates the inner connections are bad and that the switch needs to be replaced.
On average, a pool pump motor can last between 8 and 10 years before it needs to be replaced. If you hear a noise, such as screeching, humming, or even no noise at all, these are warnings that something has to be done.
If your pump doesn`t turn on OR shuts off quickly after it`s started, it`s probably an electrical problem. Check your breaker box for blown fuses Then, check your connections to make sure nothing is loose or damaged. If you don`t know what you`re doing, hire a qualified electrician.
One common cause of a submersible pump tripping its breaker can be cracks or leaks in the housing. If your pump`s housing is cracked, water could be getting into the pump through these cracks and causing it to short circuit. The same can be happening if you have a leak in your pump which is letting water in.
What Is a Rocker-Style Switch? A rocker-style switch is significantly wider and flatter than a traditional toggle switch. It functions in the same way to turn power on and off, but it requires less hand pressure to operate.

I have a York Stellar model mid efficiency furnace Model # P?UCD12N07601A, Serial # EXAM3600524 installed in 1992. The HSI was replaced approximately 3 months ago. Over the last two weeks the ventor motor comes on, the HSI lights but does not ignite the gas. The ventor motor runns continously and the HSI continues to turn off and on without gas ignition. Some times by turning the ventor motor off and on (by opening and closing the bottom furnace faces panel door) will give be ignition after the HSI goes through 1-4 cycles. If I can’t get it to work I call my furnace repair guy. The serviceman thought it was the pressure switch and ordered one. Just this last weekend I had no heat and another service guy came in replaced the HSI again and adjusted the pressure switch and said this fix should work. Less than a day later furnace still experiencing the same problem-Ventor motor comes on, HSI comes on but no gas ignition. ventor motor runs continuously and the temperature in the house drops! I’m frustrated and the servicemen don’t seem to know how to fix the problem for good.
ANSWER : Make sure the vent pipes that exhaust the fumes are not blocked in any way and also check the drain line to be sure it is not kinked from the vent motor to the trap. Take the hoses off the vent motor and the pressure switch and make sure all the hoses are clean and free from debris also check the trap on the drain hose and make sure it has water in it if it doesn’t this will creat a negative pressure in the vent motor housing not allowing the vent pressure switch to make.

My daughter has a sweet pea scooter that had been blowing fuses and the motor got hot. Im sure the motor is shot. but my question is can anyone tell me if the motor would be the only thing I need to c
ANSWER : Find out whether it is 6 volts or 12 volts and there should be two wires that feed the motor either cut or splice and attach another set of wires with fuse in the line (simular to jumper cables) raise the back tire so it does not touch the ground and place jump wires to the negative and positive of the battery. If the motor moves in either direction without blowing the fuse the motor is good if not then its bad. Uses the same amperage fuse

I have the Intex Sand/Pump pool filter Model SF 20110. It’s been running real great for the last 4 months. However recently it has been tripping the internal overloads and I have found the pump motor to be very hot when I put my hand against it. I have tried several different solutions, such as a level ground platform that was clear of any obstructions, made sure that the motor vents under the motor was clear of anything that would prevent air flow. I used a non electrical type of lubricate on the impeller. When I would turn on the pump the rotor would not turn but only would hum very loudly and then slowly begin to turn. I also noticed that the motor’s rotor shaft would not turn to freely due the tightness around the rotor’s shaft. After using the lubricate the shaft would turn a little easier. I used an amp meter on the incoming voltage line and the motor would run at 4.5 amp. And yet it still overheated and tripped the motor overloads. I can only think that the motor is still not getting enough ventilation. I have check and cleared all the incoming lines and found nothing block the pumps input or output lines. Any suggestion?
ANSWER : I just looking into this issue my self. The pump cools itself by a internal fan, which is run by the motor. Well I took the housing cover off to find out all the fan blades have broken off and were setting in the base of the pump. Once you remove the fan blades from covering the air intake, it might be fine. I will find out my self once summer gets here.

Need the wire diagram to rewire my Ariens lawnmover to bypass the safety switch. It is Ariens GT-19 model # 931026 Serial # 001463.
Can you help? It is an old Ariens mower but still runs good but now I need to bypass the safety switch in order to run it any longer. The local Ariens dealer said I need to go through the internet and get the wire diagram as they cannot give it to me directly. They told me I needed the wire diagram and the part involved in bypassing the safety switch. Hope this is all the information you need to help me.

Thank you. Roger Fielitz

ANSWER : Here is owner manual:http://apache.ariens.com/manuals/030305C.pdfusually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch. Looks like yours has one under the seat.

Intex pool not compatible with Polaris vac-sweep cleaner
ANSWER : Polaris should have an adapter to make it fit, I’m surprised you didn’t get one, usually an adapter is put in a box to make it work with multiple pools, you can call them and order one or go to a local hardware store or Menards and make your own. They will have PVC fitting adapters. You should be able to find one that will work which you may need to permanently attach it on the one end and custom fit it, but if you have basic skills, then you shouldn’t have a problem with getting it to work. Let me know how this turns out.Benjamin

I just purchased this Yamaha boat w/Twin MR-1 140hp motors, less than 100hrs (60 prox)and the starboard motor only reached 8000rpm on a 10000 redline spec (the port motor reaches 10000rpm. I have replaced the spark plugs immediatly and now the motor reaches 9500rpm. When the plugs were replaced the plug wire top of the plugs had a black powder residue (like graphite)and #1 & 4 plug electrode end were black minimal soot and #2 & #3 had a white color residue on the ceramic.

Any suggestions to attain the full 10000rpm?

A Yamaha dealer is 100 miles, so I would like to fix myself if possible. Thanks

ANSWER : I never rec’d an answer…..I WANT A REFUND!
