Six-Person Tent
Two adults and two kids plus gear have more than enough room. It`s also spacious for four adults and their gear, but anything beyond that would be a tight fit.
Even though dome tents look difficult to set up alone, they are actually one of the easiest tents to assemble by yourself! If you have a newer dome tent, it is simpler than ever to put one together. However, a lost instruction manual can mean the difference between an easy task and a much more difficult one.
Keep away from setting up where there is washout (leaves and the dirt pattern is a good solid indicator). The tent should be placed in a position that allows water to drain away from the tent, so that you don`t have a river running through it. Set up your tent away from where you are going to be eating.

Frame tents are clear span structures that have metal frames to support the roof with an open space beneath the canopy. They are self-supporting and can be weighted down if the ground does not allow for staking.
As a general rule, a family of 4 will need at least a 6 person tent. A family of 5 will likely need an 8P tent and a 6-person family will need a 10P tent. However, these guidelines aren`t always accurate. Some very large tents will actually only sleep four people comfortably, especially if you are using air mattresses.
Berth – This shows the number of people that the tent can sleep within the inner tents of a model of tent, in line with the industry standard. Normal procedure is to look for a slightly larger tent, for example, a family of four usually purchase a five or six berth tent, to give added room and comfort.

A tent is a shelter consisting of sheets of fabric or other material draped over, attached to a frame of poles or a supporting rope. While smaller tents may be free-standing or attached to the ground, large tents are usually anchored using guy ropes tied to stakes or tent pegs.

If a tent is packed away wet, then mould will develop on the taped seams, and fabric. This degrades the fabric to the point it is no longer repairable. The tent will begin to smell very strongly, and we pitch them indoors, making it quite difficult to pitch.
Most tent sealing products need 24 hours to dry completely, so make sure you have a designated space free from debris where the tent can be spread out for a day to dry.
When pitching a tent in a steady rain, if possible, assemble it under a thick canopy of tree branches, which often provides some shelter from the rain. Once it`s set up, you can move it to your preferred tentsite and stake it out.
Pop up tents have spring loaded tent poles which come pre-attached to the body of the tent. The tent bag keeps these springs compressed and the tent folded, but when you take it out of the bag the springs force the tent poles to extend.
Aim to place the tent in the middle of the backpack. Placing it in the middle puts the least strain on your back since your tent is one of your heavier items. Ideally, your sleeping bag should be at the very bottom of the pack, and your tent should be just above it.

Placing a tarp under your tent extends the lifetime of your tent by protecting it from wear and tear caused by rugged terrain. Sharp rocks, sticks, or tree roots can tear or puncture the bottom of your tent. A tarp also insulates your tent, minimizes moisture, and makes it easier to clean your tent.
Generally, a 6-Person tent can sleep four adults plus a generous amount of camping gear. Of course, you may be able to sleep more than four people in your tent if you have small children who will share sleeping pads and/or sleeping bags.
