Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
It would help if you told us shotgun or rifle, center fire or rim fire, pump, falling block, lever, bolt action, or auto loading, etc. Then it would help to simply see what fits into the end of the barrel.Next would be to measure the length of the action. After 1921 Remington use letter codes for year and month, so this would have to be earlier than that, since it has no letters.

How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :

Remington made use of a two or three letter Firearms Identification Code that can be located on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the frame. The first letter of the code identifes the month, the other letter(s) identify the year.
Surveying the serial numbers on bullets and projectiles can be an effective way to measure the flow of arms into conflict zones.
History. Most individual manufacturers habitually put serial numbers on the weapons they produce. Such numbers can be used to ascertain the name of the manufacture, place and date of manufacture.
Currently, there are no strict laws in America requiring ammunition to have serial numbers. Those in favor of stricter gun laws have suggested requiring serial numbers to be engraved on ammunition would help keep track of who is buying bullets and help solve crimes.
The Easiest Way to Identify a Gun Model Type

Long guns tend to have that information stamped directly on the barrel. Pick up a rifle or shotgun and you`ll see it, usually where the barrel meets the rest of the gun. Sometimes it`s on the right side, sometimes on the left.

Remingtons manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture.
Some bullets, such as military-grade, have serial numbers on them. These numbers can be used to trace the bullet back to its point of origin, helping forensic investigators in cases of gunshot residue or gunshot wounds, for example.
Having the local police check the federal database continues to be the most accurate way to look up gun history by serial number to ascertain whether or not a used firearm is lost or stolen. However, many police departments do not offer this service.
ATF has noted cases where some licensed importers have adopted the same serial number for more than one firearm. These instances of duplication have generally occurred when firearms are received from more than one source.
Serial Numbers. A serial number (SN) is a number assigned to each individual product in order to distinguish that product from all others. The serial number is sometimes used only for warranty control and sometimes used for both warranty control and for version control.
The sum of the number of bullet wounds and in situ bullets seen on diagnostic imaging should be an even number (“the bullet rule”).
A blank is similar, but instead of containing a bullet, it just has some paper or felt to hold the gunpowder in place. When the hammer strikes the blank, the powder ignites with as much force as it would in a real cartridge, and the puff of igniting gas comes out of the gun barrel.
The Remington Model 760 Gamemaster is a pump-action, centerfire rifle made by Remington Arms from 1952 to 1981.
The proud tradition that began with Eliphalet Remington`s first hand-built rifle in 1816, continues to this day. Remington innovation is always ahead of its time, as evidenced by our rich history and long line of legendary firearms.

I unloaded my Remington Model 7 today and released the Safety….a friend of mine and I instantly heard a loud CLICK…the firing pin had been released. My finger was NOT on the trigger.

Fortunately it was unloaded – however, I will NEVER hunt with this gun again unless I can be assured that it has been fixed….permanently!

It is too dangerous….I tried to get it to do it again, but, after 5 tries decided to quit and just put it away….it WAS my favorite hunting rifle…until this incident.

ANSWER : Remington I believe has a recall on this, check their website for recalls. Manufacturing defect!

Little Tykes Tight Fit Pool
ANSWER : Your best bet is to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a Thermal Tarp. This will make sure that seams and connector parts don’t become damaged in harsh weather. Drape the tarp over the top and get some decorative rocks or stones and place them all around the edges of the tarp, as to hold it down and still look nice in the fall and winter seasons.
Hope you liked to advice!

I have a Winchester Mod 1893 12 Ga shotgun that i inherited from my grandfather that was his father’s. I’m trying to figure out the manufacturing date of it. The serial number is A186XX. Is there any way I can figure out which day and month it was manufacture?
ANSWER : You may have to a little Google search, but at one time Winchester had a site where you could check the manufacture dates. If that fails, take it to a reputable gun dealer or gunsmith. I suspect the gunsmith may be the better of the two.

Help! Just bought a Remington 30 06 for my grandson that has a Bushnell Sportview U4124 4-12power scope mounted on it. I would like to sight it in at 100 yards using a 180 grain shell but I don’t have the owners manual and I don’t understand an on line explanation that I found. This is the on line message: “You’ll see two horizontal crosshairs, put the top one on the animals back then zoom in until the bottom one is on his stomach. Look at the numbers on the zoom dial there should be three lines they are D – deer, E – elk and A – antelope. The numbers are the distance to the game, you then turn the external elevation knob or turret to the matching distance and shoot dead on. No need to hold over for bullet drop. The sad part will be if you didn’t get the other turrets that would have come with it as they are calibrated to different calibers and bullet weights”
I don’t understand how to set the elevation knob to 100yards when its lowest shown number is 150. If I need other turrets how or where can I get them? Thanks, a frustrated grandfather.

I have a multifunction sports watch that i bought from Big W, (no brand name)

By accident i set the watch to 24 hour time, originally it was set to 12 hour time, how do i set it back? ive tried every button combo including the button combo i used when i accidently set it on 24 hour time, the instructions only say how to set the time and date, it doesnt say how to toggle between 12 hour and 24 hour time, is there a generic way to toggle it on sparts watches? btw, holding the mode button in does nothing on my watch, no matter how long i hold it in for

ANSWER : Hi. How may buttons do you have, 3 or 4 buttons?if you have the 4 buttons, try this:You need to go through the time and date settings again. The 24 and 12hr format select is at the end of time/date adjustment. To set the time and date:-press the top-left button then right-top button to set the seconds, press bottom-left button to set hour then press top-right button to adjust hour, press bottom-left button to set the minute then press top-right button to adjust minute. To set date, press the bottom-left button then press top-right button to adjust month, press bottom-left button then top-right button to adjust day and finally press bottom-left button to set the time format then press top-right button to select 12hour format. Press top-left button when done.Since you have a generic sports watch, it is hard to write specific instructions to set the time format. If your watch has different ways of setting the time, just remember that the 12/24hour format is usually at the end of time and date adjustment.Let me know if you have questions. Good luck.
