We just put new wires on our outdoor lights and they are very dim. We also have a new generator. Can you please tell me why they worked before and now they are now dim?

Thank you so much….

If you want to dim landscape lighting, you need a transformer that allows dimming and a transformer that is dimmable as well. There are some transformers that you can use a 12V dimmer with. Non-dimmable bulbs won`t work properly with a dimmable transformer, and not all LEDs can be dimmed.
Light Switch versus Dimmer

Your patio is another great place to use a dimmer switch, this gives you ultimate control over the patio ambiance. For dinner with friends, you power that dimmer switch to a medium intensity that can simulate a high-end restaurant.

When it comes to LED lighting people often wonder if LED lighting is dimmable. The short answer to this question is: Yes, LED lighting is certainly dimmable!
Recommended Lumens for Specific Outdoor Needs

Landscape lights: 50-300 lumens. Path lights: 100-200 lumens. Landscape spotlights: 120 lumens. Lamp posts: 120-180 lumens.

A dimmer is required for dimming LED bulbs. In most cases your current dimmer is used to dim halogen and incandescent bulbs. Each dimmer has a minimum power, this power is 40-80W. If you replace your old bulbs for LED then the total connected power is still below the minimum power of the dimmer.
Dimming an LED light is as easy as adding resistors to the connection or even several resistors, to ensure you get the right brightness – this is called analog dimming. In many states, there are regulations to the brightness (and colors) of LEDs on cars, which is why this is important to take note of.
The dimmer is connected between the 12V power supply and the LED lights. All 12V LED Strip lights can be dimmed in this manner; there is no special requirement for the LED strip to be dimmable – they all are due to their inherent design.
There are two types of dimmer switch available: leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmers. Some retrofit LED light bulbs and fittings have drivers that allow them to work with either type, but for a better chance of the dimmer operating correctly, choose a trailing-edge dimmer.
To make it dim, simply provide less voltage and the wire cools off, supplying less light. This is an example of analog dimming as you can dim from 0-100% by adjusting the voltage to the light source. LED bulbs create light from a diode, not a heated filament.
Simply connect the two output wires from the power supply to the dimmer unit, and then the two input wires from the LED strip. The dimmer simply acts like a valve, and the power supply unit will automatically provide the rated current and voltage to depending on the dimmer`s knob position.
The best wattage for outdoor lights is 40 watts and lower. Up to 40 watts is ideal for lighting pathways, garden beds, and other landscape areas. 40 to 80 watts are great for brightening areas like driveways, smaller yards, and the inside of your home. It may be best to use them sparingly if you put them outdoors.
For minimal background illumination, such as near your garden and walking paths, 50 to 100 lumens are more than enough. However, for entertainment spaces like patios and decks, you might need closer to 500. Garage and security lighting rank even higher at 1300 lumens to sufficiently cover the property.
Traditionally, LED lights can dim up to 10%. But with the advancements in LED technology, some LED lights can now dim down to 1%. This just gets better since the lower the dimming range the longer the life of a LED bulb.
For LED`s, the driver reduces the voltage to the LED elements but never actually turns them off. So what normally would be dimmed to almost nothing for a incandescent, is pretty bright for an LED because it`s pulling 2-3x as much wattage during that on phase to keep the capacitors charged and the light going.
Using a dimmer to keep your LEDs lit will increase their lifetime hours. An average LED bulb without dimming capabilities will last around 40,000 hours. By dimming the light using either of the above two methods, you`re essentially extending its Average Rated Life (ARL).
LED lights are so bright because they have a high lumen/watt score. Lumens are the measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted. Here is an illustration that demonstrates the difference between a low lumen count and a high lumen count.
Why are LED lights so bright? LED lights are bright because they have a higher lumen rating compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. Lumens are simply a measure of the total amount of visible light from a light source, so the higher the lumen rating the brighter the lamp will appear to the human eye.
Frosted Scotch Tape: Semi-frosted office tape will do the trick to dim standby lights, too. It might not be the most polished solution, but it will be the quickest one if you find yourself with sudden insomnia at 3 a.m. Layer it on for more effectiveness.
To make it dim, simply provide less voltage and the wire cools off, supplying less light. This is an example of analog dimming as you can dim from 0-100% by adjusting the voltage to the light source. LED bulbs create light from a diode, not a heated filament.
Plug the dimmer in. Plug the string lights into the dimmer. Then use the remote to turn them on. You can dim by 75%, 50%, 25%, or using the + and – symbol.
Use a dimmer

To darken the lamp if necessary, the use of a dimmer is recommended. This way you can always adjust the brightness accordingly. LED dimmers are available for installation in place of the light switch and also as intermediate plugs.

Pop-up camper lights all turn on when tow-vehicle lights are on
ANSWER : FIRST, make sure white wire of camper is grounded to the frame of tow-vehicle. Temporarily use a jumper-cable frame-to-frame. Then apply 12volts individually to each of the three circuits to the camper. Assuming a 4-wire flat connector — brown wire is for marker lamps; yellow is left brake/turn; green is right brake/turn

Hi, my tiger river spa does not heat. Filters are clean, jets work, no light installed. On ciruit board, green light for “Lim” , red light for heat, no other lights. Just bought house one month ago, no manuals.
Spa is a Bengal. Have noticed a symbol (can’t tell what it is) on the screen then most of screen goes blank with just the power light on. Is there a vacation mode or something like that?
Thanks for your help.
ANSWER : Spa’s are such that so many components can become faulty when left unattended to over a period of time. But most likely what your unit needs is just a regular service to clean up its systems and also ensure there are no leakages in the pipes. Bengal is a wonderful and durable product. The problem could range from low power supply to wires being eaten up by rats and other pests. Also it could be burnt out heaters thereby the inability to produce heat. The indicator on the screen could mean various things but the screen going blank usually would be caused by poor power supply. If you dont have the technical know how refer an expert to check it out and ensure the exact problem of the above mentioned is wrong with it before repairs can be carried out.Hope this solution has been helpful?

I have a wildwood le 25bhbs and the only towing lights working are my signal lights. can’t get running lights or brake lights to work. I saw where it looked like the towing harness may have been pinched. So I repaired that, but, they still do not work. Any ideas? Is there a fuse somewhere I need to check? Do I need to hook the trailer up to my trailer hitch before they will work? Is there a wiring diagram or repair manual somewhere I can get? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
ANSWER : There should be an inline fuse, check that first.

Had entire spa light replaced 2 mos ago. Now color does not work. Light is “stuck” on white. Doesn’t seem that the color wheel is moving. Service that replaced light only gave me 30 day warranty on light. It was installed 12-13-2010. Any ideas on what to try?
ANSWER : You haven’t said what exact model you have so i can’t be sure but , in the models with rotating screens, the first part that fails is the coloured wheel – the heat deforms it , it bends out of shape and blocks the rotation. You will need to open the system and see if you can rotate the wheel by hand. If you can’t you need a new wheel. If the wheel can be moved by hand you will need to check if the motor gets powered when you try to change colours. If it gets powered but it doesn’t move then the motor is dead. If it doesn’t then the control board is faulty – replace the failed part.

My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.
ANSWER : I’ve had the same experiance. On my fifth one as well. Fail every year. No idea why.

No gauges and no lights
ANSWER : Check the battery terminals, it might have been displaced or else there would be some lose connection…………..have a nice day 🙂
