It is still very stable but I want to do something to save it now before winter sets in. Can I fill the column with cement up the ‘tear’ in the metal? How do I close that gap (about 3/4” wide at the widest and 3” long so that I can get the rust off around it and paint it with rust protection?Any advice much appreciated.
This pole should have been capped off to start with,but you can fill it,then you can clean of outside and put sleeve around it,be sure to cover each end by about six inches and that should take care of the problem.
