Surf Fishing Rod and Reel Combo
I have an inexpensive fishing reel, a Shakespeare Synergy Steele 2001s model. I need to re-line the closed face reel, but front half would not rotate off (as other closed faced reels do), in order for me to remove the old fishing line to be replaced. Looking at the reel, it may appear that a tool or wrench would be needed, which is odd, since most inexpensive reels just twist off. No matter how hard I try, the reel doesn’t twist open. Any suggestions, or do I toss it? I’ve only had it for about a month!
Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
Alright man……i had the same problem. it just takes a little bit of elbow grease, bot it does twist open, it’s just harder than hell to get it to twist off. I took a towel and laid it over the reel, and lightly tapped on it with a hammer to loosen it up a bit.

Unlike open-face spinning reels, spin-casting reels come with the line enclosed in a plastic or metal case designed to minimize line tangles. This type of reel can cast both light and heavy lures without breaking your fishing line.
Tap in the top left. Tap at the top or swipe right from anywhere in Feed. Scroll to Reel at the bottom of the screen.
A closed face is a cone that covers the spool, protecting the line inside from tangles, ultraviolet light and offering an easier method of casting.IT prevents birds nests which are common. These are excellent reels for catching bluegill, crappie, trout, perch, small saltwater fish and even largemouth bass.
SpinCast Reel: The spincasting reel is also known as a closed face reel because the spool and line are beneath the spool cover.

Penn Spin Reel will not lock after casting
ANSWER : On the front of the spool there is a device to turn to set the drag. Torn it tighter and tighten it until slightly below the breaking point of your fishing line. It isn’t a critical adjustment, it just keeps your line from breaking while trying to land a fish.
