You are correct. Cold (and heat) play a part in expanding the parts of your marker. In cold weather, plus the coldness of the co2 working through it, the various parts can and will expand and contract at different rates. It only takes a fraction of inch to leak.First thing is to make sure you have thoroughly cleaned and LUBED your marker. Lubrication… what kind of oil are you using? Some general purpose oils may work well enough in better weather, but in cold weather, and especially when using co2, you would be well advised to find and use an oil specific to paintball markers. These are manufactured with COLD in mind and will continue to work where others will gel up.So yes, you are correct in your assessment. Keep your marker covered up when you’re at the staging area… uncover it to chrono or test fire it at the range.. or when you get ready to roll out to the field. Use a good, paintball-specific lube (and keep it clean and lubed).Also… an o-ring isn’t just an o-ring. They have different densities and much like the proper lube, you need o-rings that are specific to the task at hand. Cold is a killer and it loves to mess with rubber and plastic. An o-ring that’s become hard and brittle can’t do a good job, so don’t get o-rings from just any old place because they’re cheap and look like they’ll fit. I have a tippmann custom pro with a cyclone feeder. I recently got the SAW stock to put on it and encountered some problems many times after I reassembled the gun. I took it apart at least 5 times before I thought it was fixed but now ive encountered another problem. I believe it has to do with the cyclone feeder not responding or something is out of line in the gun. When I picked up the gun to shoot, no paint came out so I took off the CO2 and the barrel and saw that the paintball was 1/3 inside the gun. I also have a problem when im shooting it sometimes does really fast burst. Thank you
ANSWER : Hi there. Tippmann markers are super tough to make sure that they are put back together properly. The stupid clamshell design plus all the little, under engineered parts make it difficult to get it back together properly, especially after installing a stock. I was in the paintball industry for 10 years but have been out of it for a little bit, but i was one of the founding members of Uprising Nation and was a gunsmith/ salesman for PaintballOnline.com / Xtremes. Now with that said…I even had trouble with the tippmann 98’s…and I can rebuild an autococker with my eyes closed but can sometimes be stumped by the tippy’s bad design. It is really tough to diagnose an issue on these guns without looking at it. You may have the ball detent backwards,l missing a pin, sometimes the after market stocks on those are a little too large on the outside diameter preventing the internals from properly seating. The cycloce system may be off due to the valves not meing properly aligned or the connecting rod not being in all the way. Many times though it is incorrect installation of the detent or the deternt gets damages. That little orange peice of **** flap is a mance. I would start there.
It may seem like i am bashing your gun. Im not… Once they are put together properly they work great. Just DONT TAKE THEM APART. lol. If you buy the parts at a local gun shop they will install them for free.

I attempted to put a car stock on my Tippmann 98 custom and took apart the gun but the stock didnt fit, now when i put it back together and shot it with my tank connected the gun wont stay cocked and little CO2 is coming out with each shot the sound is very low as opposed to my other Tipmann 98 custom where its loud and stays cocked. What do i do?
ANSWER : Check the O rings on the big metal striker, make sure that you have the spring on the back (where the stock would have went) in the right hole on the back plate. Make sure that your velocity is set to a reasonable level.
My paintball gun dosent want to shoot i filed up a co2 tank and it wont work. i used it once before this and it worked fine. could it b that the co2 tank dosent work any more? but i berly bought it 2weeks ago.
ANSWER : Tanks just hold air they dont do much else. if the gun cocks and wont fire then id say you need to make sure your trigger isnt stuck
I own a tippman a5 with an UMP shroud and fake metal clip. I took apart for some maintinance and ever since i put it back together its been acting like im out of air after 2-3 quick shots. I took it apart to check it and everything was ok. So i screwed the tank back in and now i have a small leek on tthe nutin between and the tombstone.
What do you think the problem is (im afraid their two different problems).
ANSWER : There is an O-ring up in where the Tombstone slides in. That O-ring has to be lubed (oiled)
and should be toward the rear of the gun when installing the Tombstone. Also, drop-off
in firing can be caused by lack of lube on the internal O-rings. 2 drops of oil in the inlet hole
where your bottle screws on and then dry firing to cycle the oil thru might help. You may need
to completely tear down the gun and clean and lube the internal O-rings. If you can switch to
air AKA…HPA (High Pressure Air) it will be better for internal parts and better consistency overall.

Mar 12, 2010 – Could it be the check valve? I took it off and the flap appears to be working correctly. This well has been here a long time. Never given me any problems. I do have galvenized couplers on the discharge and intake sides. Old. Could these be leaking even though they show no sign of water? The discharge is able to hold 30 pounds easily overnight. I do not hear any vacuum in the intake when I take it off. Could the pipe to the well have a leak? I know I would have to insert a sleeve bnut I do not want to go through the hassle if I do not have to. I had put on a brand new pump from the hardware store that did the same thing so I think that would elliminate the pump as being the problem.
Mar 12, 2010 – I have a 3/4hp flotec convertible jet pump. It is able to hold 30lbs pressure on the discharge side as the primie easily for 24 hours. It is not able to pull water from the well whcih has been here for years. i disconnected it for the winter and rehooked it up. The galvanized couplers on the discharge and pump side are old but do not appear to be leakeing as I taped them well. The check valve seems to be functioning well as I took it off and the flap works correctly. The well is not pulling watrer. there does not appear to be a vacuum on the check vale when I losen it. could the check valve be bad? I am aware I might have to resleeve the well, but do not want to hassle with this if I do not have to. I want to eliminate everything else first. i put another brand new pump on it to see if it was that. That partiuclar pump which was the same thng did not work either.

ANSWER : Your well has gone dry it seems. It has happened to my before. At first the new pump I purchased that did not pump I took back for exchange and still no water. I finally gave in and called the well experts and I was told the well was dried up
My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.
ANSWER : I’ve had the same experiance. On my fifth one as well. Fail every year. No idea why.
