POLARIS Sportsman 300 (2008-2009) Specs, Performance & Photos. Looking for a vehicle capable of moving fast across rough terrain, but at the same time be easy to tame and provide a reassuring feeling?
2010 Polaris 300 – USA Specifications

Dry Weight 550 lb. (250 kg.) Fuel Capacity 4.5 gal.

Polaris Xplorer Xpress 300 2-Stroke 94-99 Engine Motor Rebuilt Ready to Ship.
Components are manufactured in Osceola, Wisconsin and the vehicle assembly is done in Roseau, Minnesota. The vast majority of powertrain and vehicles for the off-road line are manufactured in the Osceola and Roseau facilities, respectively.
Routine and timely maintenance is key for extending the ATV`s life. With proper maintenance, a Polaris ATV should last over 10 years with minimal problems.
Polaris is based in Roseau, Minnesota, USA. Components are mostly manufactured in Osceola, Wisconsin and the vehicle assembly in Roseau, Minnesota. Now that`s what we call an American made ATV.
Roseau, Minnesota just south of the Canadian border is the birthplace of Polaris and where its snowmobile manufacturing and engineering processes are still happening. Inside the manufacturing plant, nearly 1,500 employees build snowmobiles, (and ATVs and MRZR vehicles).
The most powerful and heaviest of the bunch are 1,000cc machines, the heaviest weighing 927 lbs, and an average quad weight of 850 lbs.
Polaris ATV and UTV base prices range from about $2,299 to $26,599. That`s a wide range, and it make Polaris both more affordable and more expensive than most competitors.

You may or may not know about the Polaris RZR Pro R and its status as the most powerful factory side-by-side out there. It makes 225 horsepower at the crank from a naturally aspirated, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which is crazy for a stock rig that weighs less than a ton.
Polaris snowmobiles are still all American made, something other leading snowmobile manufacturers cannot claim. While not all Polaris powersport components are made here, Polaris has kept their snowmobile powertrain components factory in WI, and and the vehicle assembly in Roseau, MN.
Polaris will purchase a 24-percent stake in KTM Power Sports AG from an institutional investor for 66.6 million Euros or approximately $80 million funded from Polaris` existing bank line of credit arrangement.
Thinking strictly of ATV mileage range and hours, 500 or fewer hours is ideal. 5,000 and up is considered high miles for ATVs and UTVs.
What`s Considered High Mileage for an ATV? The average annual mileage for an ATV is 1,000 to 2,000. While there are varying opinions and factors on this matter, most off-roaders consider anything above 5,000 miles to be high mileage. An ATV with 1,000 miles or under is considered to have low mileage.
Polaris Proud

We`ve been a proud American company since 1954, and US-based manufacturing and innovation are core to our vision and strategy.

FHI was the sole manufacturer of Polaris` engines from 1968 to 1995, at which time Polaris gradually began to produce its own engines for select models. For model year 2013, FHI supplied approximately one-fourth of Polaris` engines used in a number of models of snowmobiles and off-road vehicles.
Following break-in, change your oil and filter every 50 hours, year or 1,000 miles — whichever comes first. Always change the filter whenever changing the oil.
The fuel tank capacity of Sportsman is 17 Ltrs.
Our Founders. The Polaris spirit can be traced back to co-founders Edgar Hetteen, his younger brother Allan and his close friend David Johnson. The hard-working trio started the forerunner of Polaris—Hetteen Hoist & Derrick—in 1945 in tiny Roseau, Minnesota.
Polaris was founded in 1954 with the invention of its very first off-roading vehicle, the early snowmobile, following in 1955. The name Polaris comes from the name of the North Star and is meant to reflect the location of the first company headquarters in northern Minnesota.
70-150cc: kids 16 and younger. 150-300cc: experienced teens, smaller adults, brand new riders. 300-500cc: easy trail riding, new riders, light work. 500-700cc: hard trail riding, larger adults, heavy work loads.
Dubbed as a `playful workhorse` and with a frame taken from the Kawasaki Mojave 250 it`s not the fastest ATV but it`s no slouch. Kawasaki Lakota 300 top speed is 55mph in stock condition.
The first three-wheeled ATV was the Sperry-Rand Tricart. It was designed in 1967 as a graduate project of John Plessinger at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts near Detroit.

Water build up in the starter & Reqoil case of my Polaris ATV
ANSWER : Your drain plugs should be visable, if they exist, on the lowest point of the body of the device. If you can’t readily see them, consider drying out the entire unit with a hair dryer and a little patience in drying the entire unit. From then on, I would consider evaluating the depth of water before entering. After all, the unit may not be amphibious, which sounds like your intended use!
Also, the battery may be affected by the extreme cold, as they often are, leaving a different approach to this problem. Good Luck!

My polaris (Sportsman 700 2002) consumes about 1 litre of oil for every 200 miles. I replace the oil dipstick tube going into the engine,, because ther was a crack at the base, but it wasn’t the only problem obviously. The thing is, that normally when an engine burns oil, you can see smoke in the eshast fumes, but there doen’t seem to be any smoke. everything else goes fine. What’s the next step, because I live in Kuujjuaq situated in the Nunavik(Tip of norhern Québec) and ther are no qualified mehanics in this town, so I need some to guide me to the next step…
ANSWER : I had that problem some time ago and could not find any leak or there was no smoke. What we found was when I put the car up on the hoist there was a leak under neath the engine. Not enough to run out but when the car was driven it would throw the oil out underneath the car. I forget what one but I think the oil drain gasket was leaking. just enough leak to make the oil disappear. Put it on the hoist and see if your engine area is wet with oil.and pin point the area.
Hope this helps
