With the exception of small travel trailers, like teardrop campers, the consensus is that fifth wheels have the upper hand when it comes to driveability. A fifth wheel can be easier to maneuver and, in some cases, even safer to tow. Why? It has to do with where the hitch point is located.
Leading the way as the best examples of the Chevrolet Tahoe are the 2016-2020 model years, followed by Tahoes from 2006, 2011, and 2013. That said, it`s best to stay away from the 2015 and 2021 Tahoe. In addition, avoiding the model years from 2001-2005, 2007-2010, 2012, and 2014 is also wise.
Lake Tahoe is the largest freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada and the largest alpine lake in North America. At 122,160,280 acre feet, only the five Great Lakes are larger by volume. Lake Tahoe`s deepest point is 1,645 feet, making it the second-deepest in the United States after Crater Lake in Oregon.
Towering mountains and pristine wilderness make Lake Tahoe a fabulous year-round destination. The lake straddles the California–Nevada state line and is the clearest and second-deepest lake in the USA.
The word `Tahoe` is the result of a mispronunciation of the first two syllables of the Washoe`s word – Da ow a ga – which translates to “edge of the lake.” You can consider them the original Tahoe locals, and like us, they enjoyed the lake and its surrounding land for all it had to offer.
As for how long a Chevrolet Tahoe will last, in general, expect at least 125,000-150,000 miles without much hassle. Reaching 200,000 in a Tahoe is less likely without a major repair, but not unheard of. In rare cases, some owners even boast of tipping over 300,000 miles.
When you look at the current Thor Motor Coach RV Ratings on the RV Insider site, they have an overall score of 3.5 out of 5 stars from 1,127 reviews. That`s not good. And as you can see below their overall quality and factory warranty ratings are abysmal.

If your campervan has a traditional plumbed RV toilet, your waste is probably flushed into a tank located somewhere under your van. That tank is called the Black Water Tank. To empty a black water tank, you will want to make sure to pack your own slinky hose.
The best 5th wheel for full time living is a trailer that is less than 36 feet long. Longer trailers are harder to manage, and some regions have regulations about trailers over 36 feet. A 36-foot trailer is also easier to haul with a 3/4-ton truck. For height, a trailer less than 13 feet, 6 inches is recommended.
Typically, RVs will last between 10 and 30 years, with most landing close to the middle of that range. In terms of mileage, this often corresponds to 100,000-300,000 miles. Of course, that`s a wide range, but most owners should expect their RV under average use to last at least a decade, if not significantly longer.
The disadvantages of a fifth wheel hitch include its lower towing capacity and the amount of space it takes up in the bed. Fifth wheel hitches for pickup trucks typically tow up to 20,000 pounds, with a few exceptions pulling up to 27,000 pounds, at least 3,000 pounds less than a gooseneck hitch can handle.
Generally, a fifth wheel trailer is one of the safer trailer options and does not often sway and roll. Since RVs don`t require a special license to drive, you will need to teach yourself the proper driving techniques to prevent swaying or rolling, especially on the highway.
