The engine is not getting enough spark

If the engine turns over but doesn`t stark, it may be getting a weak or insufficient spark. An insufficient spark will be unable to ignite the fuel and get the engine running. There is a quick and easy way to determine if that is the case.

The main fuse box is located under the dash, above the brake and throttle pedals.
The number one reason an ATV clicks and doesn`t start is the battery, so you should troubleshoot that first. If your battery is functioning correctly, the next common source is the starter solenoid or a bad starter motor. Occasionally you could have hydro-locked your engine, or the fuses have failed.
If the car cranks when you turn the key, but the engine won`t start, it could be because fuel isn`t getting to the engine. One potential reason for this could be dirty fuel injectors. Over time, the fuel injector nozzles can become clogged with rust, corrosion or debris.
Your ATV won`t start if the battery doesn`t have enough charge. Check the battery using a voltmeter or multimeter. If you`ve somehow completely discharged the battery, you can use a smart battery charger designed for ATVs to bring it back to life.

The symptoms you typically experience when your pump is failing are poor upper RPM performance, a loss of top speed and poor acceleration. This definitely makes your Polaris much less fun to drive, but even more importantly, a fuel pump problem can cause your engine devastating damage by not supplying enough fuel.
The spark plug is what starts the engine of your off-road vehicle, continuously firing to keep the engine running. It can be easy to neglect the condition and care of the spark plug, causing the engine to not start. You should, however, periodically check the condition of your spark plug.
A starter solenoid becomes bad gradually before it finally stops functioning. You know your starter solenoid has minor problems when you hear a continuous clicking sound after the engine has started. Another way to know if your ATV starter solenoid is losing its value is intermittent starting.
Hard start symptoms and starter failure may NOT be caused by the starter, but could actually be caused by the crankshaft position sensor. If your vehicle is experiencing one or more of these symptoms, the crankshaft sensor may be at fault.
The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position and speed of the crankshaft and other parameters that play an important role when starting the engine. If the crankshaft position sensor is having a problem, the vehicle may have intermittent starting issues or not start at all.
The stator is like the alternator in your car, it makes it so the battery can recharge while the ATV is running. This is crucial to proper battery function, and your ATV will stop running if the stator is bad.
The most common reason an ATV is getting no spark is a bad spark plug, either the wrong plug all together or just not gapped correctly. Or the spark plug just went bad, that happens quite often and it`s normal.
This is important – if the starter motor sounds like it`s turning over, as usual, your issue is probably the battery. If the engine cranks but doesn`t start, it could be having trouble producing a spark, getting fuel, or creating compression.
Broken or Damaged Ignition

If your headlights can turn on, but your car won`t crank, that means that your battery is charged, but either the starter or ignition is the problem. If the starter or ignition is the problem, a starter engine can be jumped by using a charged battery.

3 year old Toro Z4200 time cutter Z, 19 HP Kohler, engine runs great, new battery, new solenoid, with the seat sensor connected or by-passed, STILL WONT start off the key switch. Clicks at the kill relay. Would the kill relay be the problem?
Whats confusing is, both the green and blue posts on the solenoid have 14.01 volts when you turn the key to ‘start’ position. Did the same thing with the old solenoid, which is probably still good. I replaced it to eliminate that variable. It also ‘clicks’ at the fuel switch at the carburetor bowl, but that is only 1 lead (I assume a hot lead) so Im thinking that CANT be it.
Using the old hillybilly method, jumping across the 2 top posts on the solenoid, with the key in on position, it will start right up, run, drive and mow just fine.
So my best guess is this ‘KILL RELAY’ must be bad?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you !
ANSWER : These things are pre requisites for engine cranking: PTO/Blades are off/button pushed down, the steering arms are out/parked position, and you are in the seat. I think. Definitely the blades have to off.

Motor was running great, but it died slowly and never start again
ANSWER : Check to see if you have a spark -then check if you are still getting fuel-and how old is the fuel-because it is recommended ,an im assuming its a 2 stroke motor,that the fuel should be replace with a fresh 2 stroke mixture every couple of months as the mixture jellyfies and sludges up the carb etc-try those first

Kawasaki 300 c bayou 4×4 was running good..battery was weak..boosted with pickup with motor running..4×4 started but died..burned ground cable in two,,new battery and ground cable..weak spark at sparkplug while cranking…will not fire or start..cdi box or what ?? thanks jdb

I have a Kohler Condidant 5 Generator that will run as long as you hold the start button in. It dies when you let off. I have a harness for the remote switch but no switch – It also will start the generator when you cross the red and black wire and run as long as you hold them together. There are 3 wires to the main switch and 5 to the remote switch. Does the starter stay engaged the whole time you hold the start switch or does the computer release the starter once it is running? The Generator is producing electricity because I tested it while holding the start button. Some where is a wire that shold tell it to keep running. I have read online many descriptions of the same problem, most are told the board is bad so they replace it and still have the problem. Have not found a solution. Talked to a marine machanic today and he said he fixed his friends generator doing the same thing by running a bypass wire but he couldnt remember exactly what he did it was a long time ago. Can anyone help me. Thank you
ANSWER : The problem is either the ballast resistor or the starter bypass relay. The bypass relay should be part of the starter solenoid. I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly where the ballast resistor is located. It should be a physically fairly large resistor made of ceramic. It should be retangular roughly 1.5″-3″ long and 3/8″-1/2″ accross with a wire on each end. It could also be a coil of wire mounted on a phenolic board.

My 50cc mini bike starts then dies 5 secs after starting. why?
ANSWER : It sounds like you may have 2 problems
