How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

From affordability to convenience, a pop-up trailer is quite popular among campers. To keep it durable for a longer time, you need to take care of its canvas. In case you think your canvas is excessively damaged and has too many tears, you should consider pop up canvas replacement and its cost.
I glued a piece of cut canvas repair fabric on both the interior and exterior of the camper. This has made a nice solid repair. The canvas and glue repairs are fairly simple easy. The main thing to do is measure the length of the canvas that is going to cover the tear.
What material do you use for a pop-up camper? The main type of canvas material that you`ll need for pop-ups is cotton canvas or vinyl. Canvas has a duller look to it than vinyl, which will appear to be shiny. You can also use a combination of vinyl and cotton for various parts of the canvas.
Stick patch to back of damaged canvas. For this you can use acid-free glue/gel medium/acrylic matte medium. Wait for a couple of minutes. Hold patch in place so it bonds with your canvas – but don`t let it dry completely.
UV-treated polyester and marine thread are your best choices. A heavy-duty sewing machine will help with canvas tarp repairs. You can sew the rip or tear by hand, preferably with a sailmaker`s needle, but you need to keep your stitches close. The best stitch to use is a flat felled seam.
There are several methods that can be used to repair a damaged canvas painting. These methods include using a piece of acrylic paint to fill in the cracks, applying a canvas patch, applying a gesso mixture, and using a fabric or paper backing.
Since a pop up is a soft-sided RV, the canvas will get wet and will need to dry out. You can put a tarp or awning over the top to help keep the rain from hitting the camper directly. Be careful of high winds that can send branches down from surrounding trees as they can create tears in the canvas sides.
Canvas is actually divided into two types: plain canvas, and duck canvas. The plain stuff is woven tightly enough to be tough and weather-proof, but not quite as tightly as duck canvas, which uses an extra dense weave. That makes duck more weather-resistant, but less breathable.
The weight of the fabric, the material it is made from and the surface preparation, in different combinations will each give a different painting experience and will affect the final appearance of your painting. At Jackson`s we stock a good variety of canvas that should cover most artists` needs.
Lay the painting face-down on a clean surface. Use an acid-free glue (“white” craft glue) to adhere the repair fabric. A primer such as acrylic gesso or a medium such as matte or gel medium also works well as glue. Apply a thin, even layer of glue, gesso, or medium to the patch and place it over the tear.
Because canvas is made of individual fibers, a tear often pulls them apart and leaves a rough edge of fibers behind. For a DIY approach, you can patch the canvas on the backside of the painting using another piece of canvas slightly larger than the tear itself and secure with acid-free glue.
The effects of water on paintings

Canvas supports can shrink dramatically when wet, causing paint and ground layers to crack, buckle and flake off. Wood products can swell and warp.

The Tarp Association recommends just one adhesive: HH-66 Vinyl Cement. The world`s most powerful PVC vinyl adhesive is also the top choice of the international association representing manufacturers of truck tarps, agricultural tarps, waste tarps and gym floor covers. Why? No glue works better.
There are a number of reasons why flaking paint can occur, such as due to an impact with an object, from water damage, and the painting being on a brittle and ageing canvas. With contemporary paintings, flaking paint can occur where there are areas of impasto and the paint layer is notably raised.
If the paint is too thick the surface may dry a lot faster than those beneath it, leaving one part of the artwork dry and the other flexible and liquid. If the paint is too thin, the binding medium may deteriorate and stop it from holding together, creating cracks between the paints or within one colour.
Cons: Limited space: Pop-up campers are much smaller than traditional RVs, which means that they offer limited space for living and storage. Setup time: Setting up a pop-up camper can be time-consuming, especially if you`re not familiar with the process.
If you love tent camping but want a few more amenities, a pop-up camper is a great option. Pop-up campers are excellent towable RVs for folks that don`t want to upgrade to a truck or simply want to go RVing more affordably. Pop-ups are the most affordable RVs you`ll find, and they offer a lot for the money.
Pop-up camper air conditioners work similarly to air conditioners in any other RV. The difference you may encounter is how well the camper will maintain its temperature. Having a canvas exterior makes it more susceptible to heat. The canvas will hold the cool air in, but not as efficiently as a hard-sided camper.
Yes, it`s safe to drink water from your RV fresh water tank as long as you regularly maintain and sanitize the tank and water system. Your RV fresh water tank holds fresh water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and more.
Usually no AC or heat

Unlike travel trailers or other RVs, pop-up campers don`t usually come with heating or air conditioning (thanks to their lack of insulation and extra space). You`re at the mercy of nature. You can bring along a space heater for cooler months and a fan or portable AC unit for the summer.

Linen is a more expensive option and, with its additional strength, quality and durability, is generally the type of canvas that professional artists prefer to use.
Cost – It is usually more economical to stretch your own – comparing, of course, the same grade canvas. Over time, you will save a lot of money. The caveat is that you have to buy in bulk, which means more up-front costs.
All the best canvases share the same qualities; tightly wrapped, a good solid structure, and in general, they are made with high quality materials. A good canvas will be tight, but will not tear in the corners where it`s wrapped. A loosely stretched canvas is the worst!
1.5″ The standard for canvas art, this frame thickness is our most popular. It gives a good “heft” to your artwork without being too bulky.

HI!
I continually get code 90 (low/NO flow) from my 8111. I have disassembled, cleaned EVERYTHING, including the inlet port AT the pump (remind everybody to check this as stuff gets past the filter basket and will plug the pump inlet).

There is No air in the system and I get superb pressure at the outlet, yet I still get code 90. I again removed the flow sensor and put my ohm meter across the flow sensor terminals and activated the flapper and measured an open circuit. I used a heavier magnet to see if I could get make the internals of the sensor move to get an ohm reading, but I get nothing but an open circuit, ie: no measured resistance.

Can I simply bypass the defective flow sensor to trick the 8111 to think it has full flow without damaging the ‘brain’ of the system.?

Intex corp is useless at these questions. They have been out of stock on this sensor for months and are telling me “two weeks” for two months and now it’s “end of August” which I do not believe. Meanwhile I am making no chlorine while the 90 code is showing.

I love the 8111, this is the first problem I’ve had with it, and I’m frustrated that I can not get such an important part from them.

Thanks for listening!

Pop-up camper lights all turn on when tow-vehicle lights are on
ANSWER : FIRST, make sure white wire of camper is grounded to the frame of tow-vehicle. Temporarily use a jumper-cable frame-to-frame. Then apply 12volts individually to each of the three circuits to the camper. Assuming a 4-wire flat connector — brown wire is for marker lamps; yellow is left brake/turn; green is right brake/turn

I need new canvas on my coleman newport. Can you
ANSWER : Anyone who does boat cover repairs…a canvas expert, can create new tent fabric from using the old stuff as a pattern. We found such a person at a marina sales department. We had to replace our boat cover twice and that was the least expensive and best job! We replaced our Coleman canvas once and it was several hundred dollars back in the 80s at the local Coleman dealer in Dayton OH

We have a pop-up with the sink that folds down. We need to replace the sink drain from the sink to outside, but the only flex drain hoses that I can find have a hose only 26 inches long. I know that will not be long enough to go from the sink to the outside of the camper.

Do you know if any place I can go to get a sink drain system with a longer hose. The contraption (I don’t know what it is called) at the base of the sink drain has rusted off so that the swivel part of the drain system is gone. We currently have a garden hose connected to the pipe coming directly from the drain, but when we close the camper, it pops off.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

Michele

ANSWER : Hi mj2181,I would say your problem should be solved easily with a hose extension , if you can get the extension and then use it , it should be ok for you and there should be no need to get a sink drain system with a longer hose.An example of an extension hose can be found on this link :- http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/7174401GS/0071/580?sid=SPDx20101101xNXTGHope this helps ,

My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.
ANSWER : I’ve had the same experiance. On my fifth one as well. Fail every year. No idea why.
