In fact, extra oil can harm your carburetor, make your auger harder to start, and is more likely to leak out your muffler. “You don`t want any of those hassles, so stick with a 40:1 ratio,” Hawthorne says. That`s 3.2 oz. of oil per 1 gallon of gas.
For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.

Use unleaded regular gas only. Run earth auger with a 50:1 ratio. Fuel must be mixed in a container outside in a well ventilated area.
Such augers can survive farm use for up to 30 years and longer with their original tube and flighting. When the time comes, the flighting with the wear edge should be easily replaceable without having to weld or replace the entire length of flight.

Twenty four to one (24:1) is a ratio used by some older 2 stroke motors, largely it seems to have been replaced with 25:1 or 50:1 these days. The ratio is not the easiest 2 stroke ratios to calculate. To make it easier you can use the following old school reference chart.

ANSWER : If you just need the cord — most hardware stores do carry replacement cord ( sold by the foot ),, if you look in the chainsaw department you should be able to find the size that you need. as soon as you have the cord you can re spool the winding unit and this will restore the pull start function.
you can also buy the cord at your local lawn and garden shops, snowmobile shops or chainsaw shops.

Hi,
After a recent snowstorm, the auger stopped turning on my Troy Bilt Two-Stage Snow Thrower (Storm 1130). I inspected it and found that I broke two shear pins and the auger drive belt appeared to need replacement. So, I replaced the pins and then replaced the auger drive belt, following the instructions in my operator’s manual. Now, when I hold down the lever that should cause the auger to start spinning, I get white smoke coming from the machine and a smell of burning rubber. I’m assuming I installed the drive belt incorrectly, but for the life of me, can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. More significant snow is on the way tomorrow, so any quick answers/suggestions would be MOST appreciated!!!
ANSWER : The shear pins shear because the auger is stuck or the shaft it is on has seized bearings
work in that area
