First of all, your belt MAY need replaced, depending on how many miles/hours you have on it. But if your belt is not the issue, You may have just tripped the ‘belt light switch’, which is located in the transmission housing. There is a way to reset the light, as I’ll explain, but if it comes back on right away after you start riding again, you will probably need to replace the belt so you do not damage your transmission.

Ok, now, to reset that light—
Get yourself a piece of electrical wire, like 20 or 22awg, about 12″ long will do fine. Get a set of small alligator clips and put the alligator clips on both ends of the wire to make a ‘jumper’.

Next, take your seat off of your ATV. You will notice, toward the back of that compartment, just in front of your little tool pouch holder, there is a wiring harness. Disconnect that wiring harness. Flip the female end up towards you and you will see 4 little connection pins sticking out. Take your alligator clips and hook the clips to the 2 bottom pins in that half of the connector.

Next, turn the key on.

Now, on the right side of the ATV by where you put your foot, you will see the engine brake actuator mounted to the side housing of the transmission case. There will be a wiring harness coming from the actuator. The wiring harness splits into 2 different sets of wiring harnesses. Find the smaller one of the 2, (it will be the one that goes up into the box on top of the housing–that box is the switch) and disconnect it. Let the belt light flash for about 5-10 seconds.

Next, just turn the key off.

Plug the belt switch harness back together, remove the jumper from the back harness and plug that harness back together. You should hear the actuator run for about 5 seconds (it is resetting the engine brake system). Put the seat back on. Start it up and try it out. Have fun!!

ANSWER : If it is limiting your speed it is your belt switch if its not speed limiting it is usually a loose cable

I have a 2006 kawasaki 650 brute force ATV the belt light is on
ANSWER : If its belt driven, they work off a type of clutch that just puts pressure on the sides of the belt. not usaully adustable, but there are mods, and after market clutches for faster respose and more aggressive take off, if this is what your after.

ANSWER : Your best bet would be to call a local shop (preferably a Kawasaki dealer) and see if they can run one down for you. I checked some of the larger parts dealers on the net, and they had everything except the calipers, like the following site:

05 750 brute force missing badly
ANSWER : Just had same problem. Take carbs off and clean all jets and bowl. Be carful front and rear carb have different sized jets. When you put quad back together put entire airbox together even the cover. This quad will backfire unless air box is complete. I bet you anything your carb is full of trash.

The drive belt light is flashing on the dash and the engine will not come up to speed on my 2005 750 brute force kawasaki how can i reset the computer
ANSWER : This belt light is a feature put on by kawasaki for safety. It’ll continue to come on after it get so many kilometers on it. The light has to be reset in order to get it off. Now if your mechanically inclined i’ll explain to you how to get that light to go off.

First thing you have to do is reach down under the right side of the bike and in under the side cover you’ll find two black plugin and two grey pluggins. Unplug those two and then plug a black and grey together and then the other black and grey together. Then down on the belt box you’ll find a square black metal box with two wires coming from it. Unplug that ****** also. Once you have this all done now turn the ignition key to the on position and wait for about 7 to 10 seconds and the computer will reset itself. After you do that, turn the ignition key off and then unplug the two black/grey connectors and plug them back together, black to black, grey to grey. Then plug the connector from the black metal box on the belt cover back in. After you have this done. Turn the key on and let it go thru it’s cycle. When you are done the belt light should be off.

Now if after you have done all this, and the belt light remains on and you still have no power, then you have a switch problem in the belt box. You can either remove the belt box and check the switch inside of it to see if the switch has been tripped to off. If it has, then in all probablity you need to install a new belt and reset the switch. Personally, i’d cut the two wires coming out of that metal box i previously told you about and join then together on the bikes wiring harness side. Leave the two wires from the black metal box like they are. You don’t have any warranty on that part of the bike anyhow, so why bother have that switch continue to cause you problems. In order to get the belt light to off after you cut those two wires is you’ll have to go thru the process i explained to you before. Only this time at the end instead of plugging the switch wires back together, just twist the two wires on the harness side together,in theory all you are doing is plugging that plug together, only your disconnecting that switch and never again should it bother you. However, after a few 100 kilometers you may have to do all i explained to you over again, only the next time you’ll have to untwist the two wires along with the two black and grey wires and then go thru the process again. After the process is done, replug black to black, grey to grey, and then twist the two wires back together, turn the key on again and let it reset itself. Again your belt light should be gone out.
